A production of Musik der Jahrhunderte

FRAME comments on the changes in perception and manipulation in our digitalized and media-driven world. Messages are processed, compressed or expanded, reinterpreted without pause. Media productions control and direct the interpretation of public events. Political content is glossed over by aestheticization. Against this background, artistic work shifts from the realm of invention to the realm of discovery. Malte Giesen finds his source material for FRAME in these media phenomena. He invents a complex play of commented, contextualized, prepared, documenting stage and space music, of hidden and absurd theater, with forms of pop and net culture: a precise, astonishing, biting as well as entertaining commentary on the topic of framing. A film has since been made for the music theater, which premiered in 2020, which turns the absurdity screw further and drives the Neue Vocalsolisten wildly through the genres. For their hybrid music-movie performance, the actors now bring thriller, comedy, mystery and action film back onto the stage with a great deal of imagination and playfulness. The result is a fast-paced confusion game through all formats of media art.
